(Workshop for LGBTIQ+, Bi_POC, persons with migration / refugee history and / or racism experience)Stress is something we all experience, and it is a normal reaction.
It happens to us in situations of threat and uncertainty, or when we have taken on too much, for example going for a job interview, family issues or developing our identity.In this workshop, we are going to learn a variety of mindfulness practices, like basic meditation skills and a Yoga practise.
The session includes:• an explanation of the mentioned concepts and practices
• breathing-relaxation exercises
• warm up, standing poses, twisting poses
• ending with cool down stretches and a short Shavasana (guided relaxation)
The aim of the workshop is to learn more about wellness/mindfulness.
The exercises can improve flexibility, balance, endurance and physical strength while helping to keep the mind sharp and clear, relieving stress and anxiety.FACILITATOR:This workshop is led by Nelson Alfonso Gaitán (he/him), personal wellness consultant and yoga instructor. Nelson identifies as gay cis man of colour. Originally from El Salvador, he has been living in Germany for the last 6 years and has found in yoga practice the tools to maintain a healthy balance between work and life. He started doing yoga in Australia at a university level and his latest course Hatha-yoga course was finished in Rishikesh, India.
IMPORTANT:Bring your own towel and sport wear.
Yoga mat and Yoga belt will be available at location.Also don´t forget to carry with you a negative corona test, proof of vaccination or proof of recovery!The workshop will be held in English spoken language.Workshop is free of charge, travel cost can be covered with NRW (DB. 2nd class).
At 6 pm you can join Baraka´s weekly meeting.
